Mark Barlow

Mark's Story

Originally from South Florida, Mark Barlow brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to Buoy 4 Fitness. When he's not serving in the U.S. Coast Guard in a law enforcement capacity, Mark dedicates his time to coaching, holding a CFL1 certification.

​

Mark is currently studying literature, expanding his knowledge, and staying curious. In his free time, he enjoys playing most sports, hiking, video gaming, and reading. A quirky fact about Mark is his ability to nerd out on animal facts, adding a unique touch to his coaching sessions.

​

His favorite functional fitness movements are the dumbbell snatch and bar muscle-up, relishing the challenge and skill they require. One of Mark's most rewarding coaching experiences is witnessing those "lightbulb moments" when a cue finally clicks for a member, and they achieve a breakthrough in their training.

​

For newcomers to Buoy 4 Fitness, Mark's advice is practical: “We’re here to get the engine started, don’t forget the maintenance (stretching, skill work).” His commitment to fitness is fueled by the supportive community and personal drive to compete with himself.

​

Mark's coaching style can be summed up in three words: fun, informative, and winded, ensuring that each session is engaging, educational, and full of energy.
